Greek Awards recognize chapter excellence

The Annual Greek Awards Dinner was held on Feb. 18 at the Villanova Conference Center, recognizing the accomplishments of each fraternity and sorority on campus.

The evening was filled with food, fun and dancing as fraternity and sorority members of the Villanova community came out to acknowledge one another’s achievements over the past year.

The night’s big winners included Delta Delta Delta for Sorority Chapter of the Year and Sigma Phi Epsilon for Fraternity Chapter of the Year.

Along with the Chapter of the Year award, chapters were recognized for their work in all areas from philanthropy and community service to alumni relations and scholarship.

Several individual awards were given as well, with special recognition going to those members of fraternity and sorority life who not only embody the values of their chapters, but also personify the Augustinian values of Villanova through their actions and attitudes.

Phi Sigma Kappa senior Matthew Dorney was named Greek Man of the Year while Delta Delta Delta senior Megan Lierley was named Greek Woman of the Year.

Phil O’Neill, assistant director of Student Development, and Ralph Gigliotti, adviser for Fraternity and Sorority Life, led the evening’s ceremonies by thanking the members for their hard work and dedication to their respective chapters over the past year.

They also acknowledged the Greek community as a whole, commending the friendship and support that each chapter not only gives to one another throughout the year, but to the University community as well.

Along with members of each sorority and fraternity on campus, the evening’s guests included members of Order of Omega, National Panhellenic and Inter-Fraternity Councils and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

Several chapter alumni and advisers were present for the event as well.

Senior and former Panhellenic President Kelli Imhoff was proud and pleased to see that the evening was a success.

“I think the night went great,” Imhoff said. “It’s an amazing night for people to see where their hard work and dedication to their chapters pay off. I’m so happy for all of the winners.”
