The Villanovan is an outlet for passionate students to stay connected with the issues on campus, share experiences of being a student in Philadelphia and express opinions about what affects them most about being a college student and as an individual. Therefore, The Villanovan has a space for every student on campus.

The editors of the Villanovan are passionate about informing our peers and being an advocate for the voice of students. In order to achieve our goals as a paper, we need dedicated writers who share our goals to create content that is most relevant and interesting to the student body and who also share our value in the power of student’s voices. The 2018 editorial staff of The Villanovan is committed to providing relevant and important content as well as leading the conversation about issues on campus.

We are calling on our fellow students to exercise their voice and writing skills. The school paper will flourish with the addition of different perspectives, passionate arguments, and interesting experiences. The paper should be a resource to spark debate, and learn new writing skills like unbiased reporting and argumentative op-eds. Without active participation from fellow students, we cannot fulfill our goal and duty as The Villanovan.

We welcome informed opinions across the board, well thought-out responses, news ‘scoops’ and tips on exciting new places to explore. If you experienced something that excited you, angered you or restored your faith in humanity, share it with the larger campus. As editors on The Villanovan, and as students on campus, we want to hear what you have to say. Becoming a writer for the Villanovan exposes you to the current issues on campus and provides you with a platform to express the facets of your Villanova experience that really resonate with you.

We see the value in diverse content and are committed to representing the many experiences, good and bad, faced on this campus. The editorial board calls for writers who are not afraid to tackle big issues, be the voice for their peers and write pieces that might stir up controversy on campus. We welcome debate and strive to create a platform in which well-argued, informed and effective articles are seen by fellow students.

Diversity in opinion and giving face to both sides of the issue are essential to a well-rounded education. We at The Villanovan hope to inspire debate and foster an environment in which students learn how to effectively defend their beliefs. So, passionate students out there: translate your passion into advocacy and express your voice through writing.
