Villanova students are passionate about many of life’s joys. Basketball, community service, academics and of course, brunch. If you haven’t already discovered Sabrina’s Café, you are in for quite the treat. Next time you and your friends get the urge to slay some pancakes, French toast and omelets, this popular spot should be your first choice.

Fifteen minutes down Lancaster Avenue and right next to the Wynnewood train stop, Sabrina’s is very easy to get to. There are locations at the Italian Market, the Art Museum area and in University City as well, in case you want to travel a bit farther from the Main Line. My girlfriend and I went to the Wynnewood location on Saturday afternoon. As one can imagine, the place was packed. The hostess told us the wait would be 45 minutes to an hour, but after 20 minutes, we received a friendly text that said our table was ready. It is a tight squeeze inside, but due to attentive service, things move pretty quickly at Sabrina’s. 

The menu has plenty of options, but isn’t as overwhelming as a diner menu can sometimes be. While lunch and dinner options are available, I recommend Sabrina’s all-day breakfast. We ordered from the Star Wars-themed special brunch menu and were not disappointed. I ordered the pumpkin pancakes filled with candied pistachios and walnuts, topped with strawberries and blueberries. Better yet, the pancakes were covered with crumbled cornbread pieces and peach-caramel sauce to add a finishing touch to the sizeable and sweet dish. I also ordered a side of bacon (for my diet) and a cappuccino that complimented the whole meal and atmosphere. 

My girlfriend ordered “The Empire Makes Brunch” Special, which consisted of a dill buttermilk biscuit stuffed with honey roasted garlic ham, sautéed spinach, and cheddar scrambled eggs. The biscuit was smothered in a fire roasted red pepper béchamel sauce to create a delicious savory dish, sided by what we called, “some bomb home fries that hit the spot.” The breakfast was well spiced and definitely had a traditional home cooked taste. 

A Philly-themed chalk art piece decorated one of the walls to add to the homey interior décor of the café. Ultimately, Sabrina’s has a European feel and is perfect for dates or gatherings with a few friends or family members. Most locations are BYOB (for those of you who are 21+). I will definitely come back for more breakfast specialties, but will most likely venture out to the Philly spots next time.
