It's been quite a journey. The Pennsylvania primary is over. Villanova should be proud of itself. We managed to bring both Michelle Obama and Chelsea Clinton on campus. John McCain came with the "Hardball" College Tour. And students are engaged on such a level that I wouldn't recognize this college as the same place it was when I walked onto South Campus as a freshman in 2004. (0) comments
Congratulations, Villanova, on your sincere contribution to the results of Pennsylvania Primary. To all of those who have dismissed our campus as politically apathetic, this year, and especially this semester, has proved them wrong. In the past two months, all three campaigns have made an appearance on campus in some form or another. (0) comments
He was a traveling man. You could tell by the baggage battalion that followed him onto the bus at 40th Street in West Philadelphia. Like most nights in Philadelphia, the bus contained mostly the bodies and souls of black folk. He was loud. When you walk across campus today, you might notice a sea of purple, green and yellow. No, it isn't Mardi Gras - many members of the student body are sporting these colorful T-shirts as a way of showing their support for Villanova's LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community. I hope you're reading this outside. After all, it's a beautiful day (unless it's raining - but even then, you can frolic in the lovely rain). A robin sings a soothing tune, someone blasts the wondrously jarring melody of a Sean Kingston song in the background and the sun radiates a pleasing and glowing warmth upon your skin. (0) comments
My fellow Villanovans, you need to learn how to drive. In particular, your parking lot driving skills are lacking. I'm speaking, of course, of Main Lot. I must say, you Main Lot drivers have got some problems. Take, for example, the narrow turns at the far ends of the lot closest to Lancaster. (0) comments
Stephen Walt's talk on April 10 prompted me to write this column. Before I give you my reaction to his talk, let me give you some facts concerning Arabs and Israel. There are about 1.45 million Arabs in Israel - about 20 percent of the Israeli population. (1) comment
