It's that time of the year — time to pick up those pens and notebooks, buy those books and get to class on time. The summer, as we know and love it, is pretty much over, but we will never forget the music that came along with it.

All those memories of the last couple months are now embedded in our minds, and all it takes is one song to release that nostalgia for the summer of 2010.

This summer's music provided the soundtrack to one of the wackiest seasons in pop culture ever, including the Lindsay Lohan soap opera and the ridiculous Lebron James decision.

This summer, we also found out that girls from California have it on lock, Eminem loves the way you lie, Enrique Iglesias likes to hang out with the cast of "Jersey Shore" and Lady Gaga just likes being on top of the charts 24/7.

There was also B.O.B. and Hayley Williams, who gave us one of the cheesiest lines ever in a chorus, which instantly made its way to thousands of Facebook statuses everywhere. We also saw the rise of Justin Beiber-fever, as well as the hype-machine Drake, who lived up to high expectations.

Yes, the summer was full of fun under the sun, but, unfortunately it's time to go back to school. The party songs of summer are gone for the winter, but that's not to say we should lose hope in music for the school year, for there are plenty of exciting things in the making.

While being at Villanova is about getting your work done, we should still go out and have a good time, and no party is complete without a good soundtrack.

So, when it's time to put down the books and party it up on the weekend, these songs are sure to put you in the mood to dance the night away.

Katy Perry – "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)"

Katy Perry certainly had a good summer melting your popsicles and getting lost in a teenage dream. Her newest album, "Teenage Dream," is full of the fun, electro-pop and the girl power that we expect from Perry.

One song off her latest album that is sure to get your Friday night a-hoppin' is aptly titled "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)." This slightly rockin' anthem shows Perry in her wildest and most unrestrained form as she tries to recollect the events from the night before, which includes getting kicked out of bars, going streaking, skinny dipping and generally being promiscuous.

Basically, it's "The Hangover" in song form, and by the time it's over, you'll be chanting "T.G.I.F" all night with Katy Perry.

Kid Cudi feat. Best Coast and Vampire Weekend – "All Summer"

What do you get when your favorite hip-hop stars team up with some cool hipster kids? Hipster-hop! Okay, that was a terrible joke, but this next song is far from terrible. Get ready for this new track from Kid Cudi, who teams up with garage/surf rock's newest sweethearts, Best Coast, along with Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend.

While this song may not have the feel of mid-November, it'll at least remind you of that warm summer sun. Cudi keeps it cool, smooth-talking over a low beat, while Best Coast singer/guitarist Bethany Cosentino sings, "All year long we wait for sun/At the beach we come undone" in her playful yet surprisingly rich voice harmonies.

The chorus is fast and spunky, perfect for having fun at the beach or hanging out at the boardwalk. This song might just bring a little bit of the beach to you as the weather outside gets colder.
